New Zone 1 Director - Dianna Hess elected 6/24/17

First of all, I'd like to say Thank you to all that voted for me at conference. I am excited for this opportunity to learn more about our Chapter and communities in Zone 1. I have big shoes to fill with Kathy Forbes stepping down. I hope to be able to live up to the expectations of Zone 1 Director that she left.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I have worked for the Beaverton School District since 2000. I was initially hired as a sub and enjoyed getting my feet wet in many jobs trying to find my 'happy spot'. I worked as a crossing guard, nutrition services worker, instructional assistant, special education assistant, bookkeeper, counseling and principal's and attendance secretary, counseling and main desk receptionist all as sub positions. I was hired full time in 2003 as the attendance secretary at a high school and worked there until 2008 when I moved to year round work as an office assistant at the Special Education Office. In the SPED office I have now worked in 4 positions, finally ending up as a management secretary for the Executive Administrator for Student Services.
I joined OSEA when the President in my Chapter asked me to. I became a member of our Chapter Executive Board quite soon after. I have enjoyed being a part of the team in Beaverton. I am a delegate for the NW Central Labor Council and attend the meetings regularly, with others from the Portland Metro area. I look forward to now being a bigger part of the Zone 1 team which includes every member from Beaverton to Tillamook and St Helens to McMinnville and everyone in between.
I hope to be able to get out to all Chapters and schedule a couple of Zone 1 meetings. For this I will need your help, as I reach out to Presidents in each Chapter, I hope that we will be able to schedule what works for all.
Please feel free to email me diannah@osea.org and I'll do my very best to get back to you as soon as possible.
Thanks for your support,
~Dianna
